As we step into the final stretch of the school year, the West Cook County Youth Club (WCCYC) has already packed this spring with service, celebration and community building. Here are some of the moments we’re especially proud of—from cleaning up the Prairie Path to cheering on our remarkable members, our annual dance and finally opening our doors to alumni for the very first time.
Spring Fling Fundraiser: Dinner Dance & Silent Auction
Saturday, April 5 • The Empress, Addison
Our biggest celebration of the season lit up The Empress banquet hall with sparkle and spring colors. The Annual Dinner Dance & Silent Auction—affectionately dubbed the “Spring Fling Fundraiser”—brought 156 guests together for an evening of fine food, lively music, and spirited bidding, all in support of WCCYC programs.
Highlights
- $25,000+ raised for academic tutoring, STEM labs, arts programs and year‑round youth services.
- Volunteers of the Year — Nike Oak Brook employees were honored for their steadfast service
- Silent‑auction prizes ranged from luxury getaways to signed sports memorabilia—many donated by local businesses and alumni.
“Events like this make it possible for the Club to help young people learn and grow every single day,”
— Ed Sheehan, Executive Director

Ed Sheehan congratulates Tony Wilburn and Jalen Moore for countless hours of mentorship and service.

Pitching In: Prairie Path Cleanup
Saturday, April 26 • Bellwood
For the 25th year in a row, WCCYC joined the Village of Bellwood’s Annual Prairie Path Cleanup. Staff, Board members, and both current and former Club participants teamed up with local civic groups to clear litter along the trail from 25th Avenue & Madison to Mannheim Road.

A special thank‑you goes out to every volunteer who laced up their sneakers, grabbed a trash bag, and made our shared green space a little cleaner. Your dedication keeps this tradition—and our community—thriving.
