December was a whirlwind of activity and generosity here at the West Cook County Youth Club. We want to take a moment to share three exciting highlights that kept us busy throughout the month:
International Day of Giving
On Tuesday, December 3rd, the spirit of giving was in the air as we participated in the International Day of Giving. Thanks to the incredible support of our friends, families, Board of Directors, and staff, The Club raised over $12,000.00! We extend a special thank you to the Balogun family for helping us spread the word. Your generosity allows us to continue our mission of providing engaging and educational programs after school and during the summer. We are so grateful for every individual who made a contribution—together, we’re helping young people learn and grow every day!
Dream Academy Toy Giveaway
On Sunday, December 15th, ten of our club families were treated to a VIP reception at the Dream Academy’s 6th Annual Toy Giveaway, held at the Doubletree Hotel in Oak Brook. This is our second year partnering with Dream Academy, and it was a fantastic experience for the entire group. Our families enjoyed entertainment, refreshments, and craft projects, and each child was able to bring home toys and gifts. Dream Academy provided gifts to over 350 young people this year! We are proud to partner with such a caring organization to create positive, memorable experiences for the children in our community.
Lunch with District 88 Transportation
To round out our eventful month, our Club staff shared a special lunch with District 88 Transportation staff on Tuesday, December 16th. We hosted this lunch to show our appreciation to the dedicated bus drivers, aides, and administrative staff who ensure our Club members arrive safely from school every day. Sixty-one Club members now use this reliable service, which has eased a tremendous burden on parents. We want to thank Superintendent Victoria Stockton, Transportation Director Tyreese Stafford, Dispatch Secretary Mildred Swiecicki, and all the drivers and aides for their incredible partnership.

From the International Day of Giving to the Dream Academy Toy Giveaway and our meaningful lunch with District 88 Transportation, this December has been full of highlights and heartfelt moments. We’re grateful for every person and organization that helped make these events a success, and we look forward to continuing our work together to serve the children and families of our community well into the new year!
