Celebrating Unity and Taking a Stand Against Bullying: Our Club’s Pledge

On October 18th, 2023, the West Cook County Youth Club marked an important day in our calendar. Celebrating Unity Day and Bullying Prevention Month, 32 of our club members engaged in an enlightening anti-bullying program.

The day was filled with interactive and insightful activities. Our members participated in a Q&A session led by Shawanda Steer and our Executive Director Ed Sheehan, who shared valuable insights about bullying, its impact, and ways to prevent it. This session provided a platform for our young members to voice their concerns and learn from experienced leaders.

Highlighting the event was a powerful moment when 32 club members took an anti-bullying pledge. In front of their peers, club staff, parents, board members, and community leaders, our youth committed to refraining from bullying and all negative behaviors associated with it. This pledge is not just a promise for the day but a lifelong commitment to uphold values of kindness, respect, and empathy.

We are immensely proud of our young people for their courage and willingness to stand against bullying. Their actions are a testament to the positive environment we strive to foster at the West Cook County Youth Club, where every child is encouraged to grow into compassionate and responsible individuals.

This event is just one of the many ways we are working towards creating a safer and more inclusive community for our children. Together, we are making strides in empowering our youth to be the change-makers of tomorrow.
